REIKI

An Ancient Science

Reiki is an ancient healing modality brought to the West by Dr Mikao Usui in the 1920's and known as Usui Reiki Ryoho although Reiki has been practised for over 2,500 years.

The term 'Reiki' originates from the Japanese 'Rei' which means Universal and 'ki' which equates to a lifeforce energy.

A hands-on (or hands off!) body treatment that leaves you feeling relaxed and renewed it involves the transfer of universal energy via my hands.

Whether it's for de-stressing, rebalancing body energies, dealing with pain or re-aligning the chakras a Reiki treatment will leave you with an overall sense of well being.

FAQs

Some frequently asked Q's

How does Reiki work?

Fully clothed, you lie on a massage table (although no massage is involved). I then gently place my hands on various parts of the body. My hands are in place for several minutes and you may feel them getting warm, tingling or a feeling of heat in the general area. This enables the transference of universal energy via my hands into the energetic fields of the body. I act as a conduit to channel the energy as opposed to 'giving' it, therefore the more open someone is to receiving Reiki, the more benefit will be obtained.

Do you help treat terminal or chronic illness?

There are no guarantees that Reiki will help to heal terminal or chronic illness although clients often report pain relief. However, Reiki will certainly help to reduce feelings of anxiety and help you cope emotionally.

Research studies suggest Reiki can be more effective than a placebo at easing anxiety, pain, and depression in people with long-term health conditions and can help speed healing.

How should I prepare for my first treatment?

There is nothing in particular that is required from a client's perspective, although you may wish to wear comfortable clothing.

What should I expect from my first session?

You should experience an overall sense of tranquillity and calm. You may become so relaxed you fall asleep during the treatment, which is absolutely fine!

Using a dowsing tool, such as a pendulum, I may check the energy status of your chakras (body energy centres) and rebalance any that may be blocked and not functioning as optimally as they could.

When I connect to the Universal Energy I often receive 'divine' information, 'spiritual' messages or insights. If you prefer me to not relate any communications, please let me know before the start of the session.

Are there any side effects?

Reiki is a safe, non invasive treatment. Being complimentary it can be used alongside conventional medicine. At most you may feel floaty for a few minutes afterwards while the body energies readjust. However, most people tend to feel relaxed with renewed energy.
